Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 21st, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Martha's SOS collects when you visit marthassos.com or get in touch, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
We keep this plain and honest, because that is how we run everything. If anything here is unclear, email us at martha@marthassos.com and we will explain it properly.
1. Who we are
Martha's SOS ("we", "us", "our") is an Online Business Management and operations consultancy operated by Martha Christie.
For the purposes of data protection law, we are the "data controller" of the personal information described in this policy. That means we decide what information is collected and how it is used.

2. What information we collect
Information you give us directly
Enquiries and contact forms: your name, email address, and anything you choose to tell us in your message.
Bookings: when you book a call (for example through our booking tool), we collect your name, email address, time zone, and any answers you give to the booking questions.
Newsletter or resources: if you sign up for emails or download a resource, we collect your email address and name.
Clients: if you become a client, we collect the information needed to deliver your engagement. This is covered in more detail in your service agreement.
Information we collect automatically
Usage and device data: when you visit the site, our platform and analytics tools may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site.
Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 5 below.
Payment information
If you pay us through the website, your payment is handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Our provider processes them securely under their own terms and privacy policy.
3. How we use your information, and our lawful basis
Under UK data protection law we must have a valid "lawful basis" for using your information. Here is how that maps to what we do.
To respond to your enquiry or booking: our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us, and where relevant, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
To deliver our services to clients: performance of our contract with you.
To send you marketing emails or a newsletter: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
To run and improve the website through analytics: your consent, given through our cookie banner.
To meet legal and accounting obligations: compliance with a legal obligation (for example, keeping financial records).
To keep the site and our business secure: our legitimate interest in protecting our systems and preventing misuse.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are outweighed by your rights, and we believe they are not. You can object to this at any time (see Section 9).
4. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We do share it with trusted service providers who help us run the business. These providers act on our instructions and are bound to protect your information.
They currently include:
Squarespace (website hosting, forms, and site analytics)
[Booking tool, e.g. Calendly] (scheduling calls)
[Email marketing platform, if used] (sending newsletters and resources)
[Analytics provider, if used beyond Squarespace, e.g. Google Analytics]
[Payment provider, if used] (processing payments)
Our professional advisers (for example accountants or legal advisers) where reasonably necessary
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, or to protect our legal rights.
5. Cookies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Some are strictly necessary to make the site work. Others (for example analytics and marketing cookies) are only used with your consent, which you give through the cookie banner when you first visit.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time through the banner or your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
6. International data transfers
Some of our service providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. This means your information may be transferred to, and stored in, countries with different data protection laws.
Where this happens, we take steps to make sure your information is protected to a standard consistent with UK law, for example by relying on approved safeguards such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or an equivalent approved transfer mechanism offered by the provider.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it.
Enquiries that do not become clients: kept for up to [12 months] and then deleted.
Client records: kept for the duration of our work together and for up to [6 years] afterwards, or longer where the law requires (for example for tax and accounting).
Newsletter subscribers: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
When we no longer need your information, we delete it or anonymise it securely.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Erase your information ("right to be forgotten") in certain circumstances.
Restrict how we use your information in certain circumstances.
Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time.
Data portability, meaning you can ask for certain information in a portable format.
Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email martha@marthassos.com. We will respond within the timescales required by law. There is usually no charge.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve your concern first, so please do contact us before you go to the ICO.
9. How we keep your information secure
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe and to work only with providers who do the same.
